 South
Sudan is just emerging from over 20 years of civil war. Young people
have not been able to go to school or learn a trade because of the
continual state of unrest. The small amount of infrastructure that was
once in place has been destroyed, leaving the fledgling nation
dependent on foreign aid. Poverty is rampant, and though the land is
rich and fertile, the general populace does not have enough food to
make up the two meals typically served each day.
TFS Worldwide
is working alongside Sudanese Christians, helping them fight poverty by
developing agricultural projects, small businesses, and co-ops that
will allow them to become self-sustaining. The long term results of
this economic development work will be a stable economy and an end to
reliance on the international community for assistance.
Pray
that God will establish South Sudan as a Christian nation, and that He
will bless and multiply the effort of Sudanese nationals as they battle
poverty and deprivation.
